Farewell Starman

Why do you grieve for news reports?
Will there now be no more heroes?
Hush your tears, the legacy stands
I loved the music but never knew the man

Give some dignity to loss of life
Leave the grieving to those with right
Your duty now is to celebrate life
Play the back catalogue all through the night

Damn your wailing and gnashing teeth
Was he not enough? Incomplete?
I say declare a victory
A life unspoiled is so rare to see
Except perhaps for Dancing in the Street
I'm happy to have lived with that legacy
